HELP CREATE A STIR WITH CAKES FOR CHILDLINE

A special occasion just wouldn’t be the same without a cake – and ChildLine’s 18th birthday is no exception. To help celebrate this milestone, the leading children’s charity is calling on schools across the region to whisk, beat, and stir it up on the first ever ChildLine Day (15 October 2004) by joining in with Cakes for ChildLine.

Thousands of children will be whipping up a recipe for success for ChildLine’s birthday by baking, buying, and selling cakes to friends, family and colleagues. So, whether you’re a masterchef in the making or not so keen in the kitchen, by rising to the occasion you’ll be raising much-needed funds for ChildLine – and enabling the charity to continue providing help and support to children and young people in the East Midlands and East Anglia.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is backing Cakes for ChildLine and says:The students I work with are living proof that cooking can change kids' lives – and with Cakes for ChildLine everybody can help change children's lives for the better. It's dead easy – just whip up a quick sponge mix, bang the tray in the oven, decorate them how you like and flog to your mates. And every penny helps more children get through to ChildLine. Job well done!’
