Dear SEN CO,
I am writing to you, to introduce you to
the Brain Dojo System. Richard Vince has created brain Dojo after many
years of practice in special educational needs. He has studied in the fields
of; Martial arts (25 years), Brain Gym, psychology, Kinesiology, accelerated
learning, complimentary therapy, and memory enhancement techniques.
The Brain Dojo system is a
symbiosis of all of the above and has been used successfully at New Eccles Hall
School for two years. The Brain Dojo system is particularly (although
not exclusively) beneficial to those with learning challenges. Dyslexia, ADHD,
EBD, Aspergers, and other ‘labels’ that sometimes make learning in the usual
way a challenge.
Brain Dojo provides short and long term goals with
a rank system. Students will work towards black belt status. It is an active
learning system that is attractive exciting and dare I say Cool? for students.
It works in six main areas
1.
Cross Motor skills. These are exercises or movements that
require the student to use both hemispheres of the brain simultaneously.
2.
Lengthening or
stretching. Extending
muscles, encouraging them to work through their full range of movements, this
does more than simply exercise a particular part of the body.
3.
Energy exercise. Many of these techniques are drawn from
Tai Chi and oriental therapies.
4.
Balance. Balance is such an important component
of life, Brain Dojo works on inner balance, as well as the physical aspects.
5.
Repatterning. This helps to create and reinforce new
communication pathways.
6.
Self esteem.
Self-esteem plays a vital roll in all parts of life. One thing that
helps to raise the self-esteem of our students is Self Belief.
7.
Aggression Control. The safe controlled expression of aggression.
Following the fantastic response from our
presentations at ‘Special Needs Norfolk’ we are now in a position to offer the
services of our instructors (to visit your school and teach BD) to a limited
number of locations in and around Norwich or Great Yarmouth area. We can supply
trained and Certified Brain Dojo
certified instructors to give ‘one to one’ or group lessons for an investment
of £35 per session.
Alternatively, if you would like to learn
to teach the Brain Dojo system in your school, we are holding an
‘Introductory Level Coach’ training day, on Thursday January 20th from 9.30am until 3pm, at
our Bull Close academy, Norwich. A buffet lunch will be provided. The syllabus
is suitable for teachers/ LSA’s with an average level of fitness. You will be taught the principles of Brain
Dojo and enough material for you to use the system for approximately 6 months
in your school. We also provide on going support. The investment for the
‘Introductory Level Coach’ is £147 per
person
To book your place and for further
information on the services we can provide for you’re school, please contact
Master Richard Vince using the details above.
Yours sincerely
Mrs L. Taplin (Brain Dojo instructor)
