If the educational establishment is oversubscribed, after admission of pupils with a statement of special educational needs where the educational establishment is named in the statements, priority for admission will be given to those children who meet the criteria set out below, in order:

1.        Children with statement of educational needs where the educational establishment is named

2        Children in public care or who have been adopted who are due to transfer

3        Children with social and medical needs who are due to transfer

4        Children who are due to transfer and have a sibling attending the educational establishment

5        Children who are due to transfer and live in the area served by the educational establishment

6        Children who are due to transfer and live outside the area served by the educational establishment and attends a feeder school

7        Service Children with appropriate documentation in place who are due to transfer

8        Overseas Children with appropriate documentation in place who are due to transfer

9        Children who are due to transfer and are children of staff who have been employed for two or more years or into a position which there is a demonstrable skill shortage

The following oversubscription criteria will be applied:

● Students with EHCPs who have named UTCN in their Plan.

● Looked After Children (and previously looked after children).

● Children of staff at the school, in either of the following circumstances: a) The member of staff is employed on a permanent basis at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or b) The member of staff has been appointed but has not yet taken up their role at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made

● The remaining places will be allocated to children who live in the catchment area served by UTCN (map and list of postcodes above) with reference to the CAT testing, taking into account the allocations already made on the criteria above. Eg. if 3 students with EHCPs have named UTCN, and all are in CAT Band B, there will be 35 Band B places remaining.

● Places will be distributed by random allocation within each Band. If places remain, the following criteria will apply:

● Children who live outside the catchment area served by UTCN who have an older sibling (full, step, half, adopted or fostered brother or sister but not cousins) attending the UTC at the time of admission

● Children who live outside the catchment area served by UTCN but are attending a secondary school within the catchment area at the opening date of the admission round

● Children who live outside the catchment area served by UTCN 5

Please note, we do not give priority to applications from students from particular schools.
