Modern Reward Strategy - New Recruitment Procedures with Effect from 1 May 2009

In February schools were contacted with instructions for revised procedures regarding recruitment of support staff in schools (MI sheet 36/09). This process was developed to avoid the need for further retrospective job matching catch ups and to ensure that the data transfer between Oracle the HR payroll system and the MRS team remains robust.

The first stage of this change is up and running and schools should now be familiar with using job lists to identify correct job titles and GR Numbers.

The next stage is for us to ensure that all new employees are informed of their MRS proposed grade and terms and conditions at the point that the offer of employment is made. This is so they understand that their pay and conditions are subject to change, and that in accepting the job in the knowledge of proposed outcome, they have no right to appeal.

This is a temporary arrangement that will that will not be required after MRS is implemented.

In this interim period it is the responsibility of the school to inform successful applicants of their proposed grade, terms and conditions and that in accepting the job in the knowledge of proposed outcome, they have no right to appeal the MRS grade.

To help you with this a template job offer letter and appendix have been created to provide this information for the successful applicant and full details of the proposal are set out in the MRS Information Pack.

Process:
  • A vacancy is identified
  • Application Forms requested from Recruitment Team County Hall
In addition ask for an MRS Information Pack for the successful applicant
  • Advertise
  • Interview
  • Assess/select
  • Job offer

    Send to successful applicant:
    1. Job offer letter. Use the template attached and insert relevant details
    2. Appendix. Insert GR number, proposed grade and proposed salary range
    3. MRS Information Pack
    4. Send appointment notification form to ESC with copy of offer letter.

The template job offer letter and appendix are available for downloading. You are advised to print these from the internet as and when required to ensure that the most up to date version is used.

MRS information packs are available from the Recruitment Team by emailing epsschooladverts.edu@norfolk.gov.uk or telephone 0844 800 8007.

It is important that all new employees are informed of the proposed changes under MRS and understand that in accepting the job in the knowledge of proposed outcome, they have no right to appeal.

We appreciate your on-going support in helping us to move towards implementation. If you have any questions about this or any other MRS matter please email or telephone 01603 224145.
