Extended Schools Disadvantaged Subsidy
Norfolk Launch Events - 19 and 29 June

The Local Authority is currently participating in a pilot project during 2009-10 around the Extended Schools Disadvantaged Subsidy Grant which has a primary focus to enable children and young people from economically disadvantaged circumstances to access extended services and activities within their communities. The seven clusters involved in the pilot project are: Sewell Park and Sprowston (Central), Acle (East), Long Stratton (South), Sheringham (North) and Springwood and Terrington St Clements (West).

The subsidy grant will become available to all clusters from April 2010 and as part of the preparation for this each cluster is invited to send a representative to one of the Norfolk launch events. Please liaise within your cluster to ensure that a representative attends one of the events:

19 June at Norwich City Football Club
29 June at West Norfolk Professional Development Centre

These will be morning sessions followed by a buffet lunch.

The events will be facilitated by the Training and Development Agency for Schools and will allow delegates to:

Understand the facts about the subsidy funding - policy, implementation and benefits

Explore the options for identifying and engaging the target group of children and their parents/carers

Explore the practicalities of implementing the subsidy

Benefit from the practical learning and experience of the pathfinders

Review the support resources available.
