Help with Question Level Analysis Files for RAISEonline

We are all aware of the benefits of doing Question Level Analyses (QLA) in RAISEonline to support the setting of targets, and future teaching and intervention strategies, but in most cases, schools simply don't have the time to do the data entry work required to transfer the information from test papers into electronic files for importing into RAISEonline.

Nottingham City Local Authority runs a scheme called ANSAT (Analysis of SATs) through which it offers to collect the marked scripts from schools using a courier service, do all the data entry over the summer holidays, and provide us with RAISEonline-friendly electronic files during the first week of the Autumn Term. These files will be delivered to the Information and Research Centre for distribution to schools via AVCO (AnyComms) from where schools can download them, import them into RAISEonline and begin analysing. The test papers will be returned to schools by courier during the first week of the Autumn Term.

In discussion with Chris Snudden and Robin Ings, we feel that doing QLA on Year 5 Optional Tests (English and Maths) will enable teachers in Year 6 to target teaching for their class and for groups or individual children and could have a significant impact on future performance. QLA in Year 3 and Year 4 will also enable targeted teaching in Years 4 and 5. The cost of this service provided by ANSAT is £1.90 per pupil per subject. The school can decide which years and which subjects to submit, if any at all, and ANSAT will invoice the school based on the numbers. English includes Reading and Writing, Maths includes Written and Mental tests. Click here for more detail.

If you are interested in using ANSAT services, please email irc.schoolperformance@norfolk.gov.uk by Monday 8th June and they will forward contact details for ANSAT, some guidance notes and a booking form. The booking form must be submitted to ANSAT by Friday 12th June and the marked scripts will be collected by ANSAT's courier service during week commencing 29th June.

Please note that you will need your school's administrator's RAISEonline password for importing QLA files. This is the one with "SADMIN" in the username. If you don't have the Admin password, it is recommended that you log on to www.RAISEonline.org and follow the link for "forgotten your password?".

Training and support for importing QLA files into RAISEonline and analysing the data will be provided by the Primary Strategy Advisers (more information to follow).
