Management Information Sheet
Guidance for the use of the New Pupil Specific Funding (PSF) Scheme
Further to our earlier MI Sheets 72/09 and 108/09, please find attached the PSF Guidance Document.
The document will also be available on the following websites soon:
Children's Services Financial Services
Norfolk Schools / Finance & Special & Additional Needs
Children's Services Intranet / Procedures / Children's Services Generic Processes
This guidance document provides clarity regarding how the new scheme will operate from 1 September 2009. It outlines a range of scenarios where the current funding scheme will still apply (for children and young people currently with Statements of SEN remaining in their current placement) and also the scenarios where the new scheme will operate (predominantly for new Statements, finalised on or after 1 September 2009).
It is our intention that this guidance will be the first in a range of documents that we will issue regarding provision for children and young people with SEN and the way in which funding should be used to assist progress for children and young people. For example, future guidance will outline information on the following themes:
Monitoring (support and challenge)
Use of the Audit Commission's SEN/AEN Value for Money Resource Pack for Schools
Criteria for Statutory Assessment / Annual Reviews
Best practice guidance in making provision for children and young people with SEN
A reminder that we have arranged three information events when headteachers, governors, SENCos and Children's Services staff, can learn more about the new PSF scheme.
The details are:
4-6 pm, Thursday 2 July - Barnham Broom Hotel, Barnham Broom
4-6 pm, Tuesday 7 July - Great Yarmouth Racecourse
4-6 pm, Thursday 9 July - Swaffham Eco-Tech Centre (please note that the venue has changed from Swaffham Community Centre)
Refreshments will be available from 3.45 pm for a prompt start at 4.00 pm.
Please contact Emily Procter at least 48 hours in advance if you would like to attend so we can provide refreshments, seating and copies of the PSF Guidance document for the correct number of people.
