Management Information Sheet
Threshold Applications in England from September 2009
Threshold Applications in England from September 2009
Further to MI 41/09 issued in February this year, and to the Performance Management of Teachers, Training for Reviewer sessions being delivered around the County this term, quoted below is the latest information received from the DCSF:
'From September 2009, schools in England will normally only use the evidence recorded in a teacher's performance management (PM) planning and review statements covering the two year period prior to any application to assess whether he/she meets the post-threshold teacher standards.
As an interim measure to ease the way into the new arrangements, we consider that it will be helpful for headteachers to meet each reviewee, together with their reviewer, before the end of the 2008/09 PM cycle to help ensure that the 2008/09 PM cycle has provided sufficient evidence for an appropriate assessment of a threshold application to take place. If necessary, the evidence should also identify where evidence may need to be strengthened in the 2009/10 PM cycle.
The DCSF will publish further guidance on the Teachernet website shortly.'
Schools will be informed as soon as this information has been published on Teachernet and the LA has pressed for this to happen sooner rather than later.
