Primary Schools Target Setting - Autumn 2009

ALL schools are required to set targets this term. Please see detailed guidance.

KS2 Schools will be setting targets for 2011 attainment as well as absence.

Infant Schools are required to set 2011 absence targets this term.

PLEASE NOTE:

(1)	Absence targets are required to be equal to, or lower than: The median level of absence for schools with similar free school meals The school's actual absence figure for 2007/08 The school's target for 2009/10 These three figures will be provided on the target setting website. Entering a higher figure for 2010/11 will trigger the need for an explanation which will be submitted to the DCSF.
(2)	Details about setting targets for children in care are contained within the guidance.
(3)	Schools with KS2 pupils can download and use a KS2 Target Setting Tool This Microsoft Excel spreadsheet can be used to set and adjust individual pupil targets in reading, writing and mathematics. It will show where those targets represent two levels progress in English or Mathematics, and whether the targets are above level 4 in both English and Mathematics, summarising these as percentages. The spreadsheet has the additional functionality to import pupil names, Key Stage 1 results, and year 6 targets from the Norfolk Tracking Tool spreadsheets.

End Sept to 4^th December 2009 (ALL schools)	School sends provisional targets to SIP before the SIP's Autumn Term visit
2^nd October 2009 (KS2 only) NEW THIS YEAR	FFTLive - MI Sheet is published providing schools with an option to access all your Fischer Family Trust (FFT) data on the FFTLive website
9^th October 2009 (KS2 only)	FFT school-level reports will be available on the 'My School' website. To access these, go to KeyData, scroll down to Attainment or Achievement and click on the 'MoreInfo' button
16^th October 2009 (KS2 only)	FFT pupil-level estimates (in pdf format) will be available to download from AnyComms PLEASE NOTE: This is the last time FFT pupil-level data will be provided via AnyComms. In future years schools will use FFTLive (as 2^nd October above)
End Oct / Early Nov 2009 (KS2 only)	Schools use their data and have discussions with staff to compile proposed targets
Early Nov to 4^th Dec 2009 (ALL schools)	Governors agree targets
By Friday 4^th Dec 2009 (ALL schools)	Chair of Governors, Headteacher and SIP verify targets and schools enter 'Agreed Final' targets online. Once entered, please click 'Save Changes & Submit'. The Headteacher confirms the targets on line by entering his/her name and date confirmed. The Headteacher also takes responsibility for entering the name of the Chair of Governors and date the targets were agreed, as well as the name of the SIP and the date the SIP agreed the targets. Targets entered on the website may be amended up to 4^th December, subject to the agreement of The Chair of Governors and SIP. Please remember to click 'Save Changes & Submit' after changes are made.
