Information to Support New LA-Funded Advanced Skills Teachers for ICT
We are seeking to support a new LA-funded Advanced Skills Teacher for ICT (Secondary) and are keen to find a suitable school/department where this post would be based. Headteachers interested in creating such a post in their school are invited to submit a proposal, using the template provided and taking account of the guidance below.
The post is intended to complement and increase our existing expertise and capacity for ICT curriculum support, particularly in the following areas:
The introduction of new GCSEs in ICT
Post 16 education in ICT and/or Computing
As we already have one AST post established in the Norwich area with a focus on KS3/functional skills/IT Diploma, we will give preference to other geographical areas. The post would be funded for 3 years in the first instance, as explained in MI Sheet 80/08. In line with these current arrangements, the school will need to fund the ICT teaching post, whilst the local authority funding supports additional costs associated with the appropriate salary increase and cover costs for outreach release. Further specific criteria also apply to this appointment:
The post will have to be advertised nationally
The postholder is in a department of at least two teachers, ideally more
The postholder's timetable allows outreach work to take place on one day per week
If you wish to submit a proposal please do so by 29th January 2010.
