Consultation on Admission Arrangements in Norfolk for September 2011

Norfolk County Council is required to consult on the proposed co-ordination schemes for September 2011. Additionally all other admission authorities are required to consult on their proposed admission arrangements and consultation must be concluded by 1 March each year.

This document details Norfolk County Council's proposed co-ordination schemes including the proposed timetables for Norfolk primary and secondary school admissions for September 2011. It also includes propose changes to the admission arrangements for all Norfolk community and voluntary controlled schools for which the County Council is the admission authority.

An electronic form will enable consultees to respond to these proposals. Alternatively a paper from can be printed from the Admissions website. The County Council will also display on School Finder on our website admission arrangements for individual Foundation, VA schools and Academies who wish to use this facility and schools can also comment on these proposals.

There is now a legal requirement for the local authority to consult with parents on the proposed admission arrangements and I would be grateful if you could advise the parents in your school that the consultation is now open and how they can access it and respond. The Local Authority will also be publishing the consultation via a public notice in the Eastern Daily Press, as required by legislation.

The main points of the consultation are:
  • A proposed scheme for the coordination of all in year admissions to meet the new legal duty on local Authorities from 1 September 2010
  • Detail of the new entitlement for admission to Reception classes from September 2011
  • Proposed minor changes to the primary, secondary and junior co-ordination schemes and timetables from September 2011
  • Proposed catchment area changes in the Dereham, Stibbard and Thorpe St Andrew areas from September 2011.

The consultation on proposed admission limits for September 2011 is being undertaken separately and will be available via next week's Ecourier.

Responses must be returned by 1 March 2010
and can either be input directly via the online response here
