Gifted & Talented Out of School Hours Funding 2010

In response to the recent changes to the Gifted and Talented programme and the requirement for schools to take responsibility for providing opportunities for pupils to participate in enrichment activities funding is available for clusters of schools to develop specific G&T activities for transition. There is only a limited amount of funding available, approximately £1500 per cluster.

The activities must be additional to existing opportunities provided as enrichment and identification and specifically for pupils on the gifted and talented register as reported on the School Census return. The activities should take place outside of normal school hours, although the funding may be used to provide training for staff providing the activities or resources required to make them sustainable.

They should focus on:

  • Transition Key Stage 1 to 2, Key Stage 2 to 3, Key Stage 3 to 4; Key Stage 4 to 5;
  • Extension, challenge, deep learning, creative collaboration; and
  • Take the form of a series of activities closely linked to classroom provision. E.g. Master classes, study skills, thinking skills, philosophy

    The activities may take place between now and summer 2011.

    Proposals should include an outline of the activity and its sustainability and methods of evaluating the impact, including quantitative and qualitative data, pupil evaluations and an agreement to provide a short briefing paper for dissemination to other schools regarding the success of the activity. (For examples of previous activities visit: www.schools.norfolk.gov.uk.)

    In order to secure this funding the gifted and talented leading teacher / coordinator should contact Sandra.howard@norfolk.gov.uk as soon as possible.
