Management Information Sheet
In Year Admissions Coordination Update
From 1st September 2010 the local authority will take on a new statutory duty to coordinate all in year admissions and it will be a legal requirement that all decisions regarding school preferences must be made in writing by the local authority. This applies to all admissions except children with statements of special educational needs.
The Admissions Team have already provided information about this change in a number of MI sheets, most recently in MI 95/10 which gave the details of the new scheme.
As discussed at the recent area Headteacher meetings, the Admissions team have produced a number of one page A4 sized guides to the new process which are attached to this MI sheet.
There are primary and secondary guides for schools as well a guide for parents which can be printed out and given to any parent who visits the school to enquire about a place.
Parents will be required to complete an application form which should be returned to the Admission Team as shown on the guides.
There is one form for primary and one for secondary applications. If you require hard copies of the form please contact the Admissions Team.
