Marking of Registers
Several queries have been raised recently regarding the timing of the marking of registers we would like to remind all colleagues that the Education Regulations state that a school must take a register at the start of the morning session and during the afternoon session.
Several schools have raised the possibility of taking the register for the afternoon at the end of the morning session before the lunch break. Although it may be after 12 o'clock this would not meet the legislation requirements on schools. The regulations for registration relate to school sessions and not timings in the day.
Any school who does undertake this practice are not only failing to follow the regulations but are also leaving themselves open to serious safeguarding and health and safety risks.
