Norfolk School Talent Pool - as part of the Norfolk School Leadership Succession Planning Strategy

As you will have seen from MI 174/09 on the Norfolk School Leadership Succession Planning Strategy, headteachers, as part of the Autumn SIP visit, will be asked to consider nominating members of their staff that they feel have significant and demonstrable leadership potential to join the Norfolk School Talent Pool.

Nominations for the Talent Pool should have the potential to become senior school leaders within the next three to four years.

The SIP/Headteacher will engage in an annual Talent Pool discussion as part of the Autumn term agenda and address key questions in identifying potential school leaders for the Talent Pool. Over time, Talent Pool recruitment will cover all roles within the wider school workforce but always take account of local leadership needs.

The Talent Pool will focus on the Primary Phase. There will be only 50 places offered in the 2010/11 cohort 2. In the event of over subscription, priority will be given to recommended candidates who meet the current Leadership Succession Planning Strategy priorities for 2009 - 2011.

Requested action

In preparation for the SIP Autumn Term visit, headteachers are requested to read the guidance and selection criteria, which together with the nomination form can be accessed here.

Following the SIP visit, completed nominations should be sent by the Headteacher, no later than 7th January, 2011, to Elizabeth Philpot, Norwich Professional Development Centre, Woodside Road, Norwich, NR7 9QL, or electronically to elizabeth.philpot@norfolk.gov.uk.
