SEN/LDD Update
The Ofsted special educational needs and disability review was published on the 14th September 2010. The key implication of the findings in the report stated that "any further changes to the (SEN) system should focus not on tightening the processes of prescribing entitlement to services but, rather on:

In addition to this publication, the call for views on the governments Green Paper: Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities was launched on the 10th September 2010. This consultation will close on the 15th October, so everyone with an interest in services for children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities in England is invited to contribute their views. The green paper and consultation routes are available at (http://www.education.gov.uk/news/press-notices-new/sen-plans).
Both the Ofsted report and the green paper will be discussed in detail within the Autumn term SENCO essential skills programme. Full dates for the programme including timings and venues is available on the Norfolk SENCOs website: http://schools.norfolk.gov.uk/page_64.cfm.
