Primary SIPs - Spring term visit and an update on the new Ofsted Framework/SSE
A copy of the Record of Visit (RoV) including a spring term agenda as well as important further information regarding the new Ofsted framework and future changes for school Self Evaluation documentation, and national and local school performance descriptors are available by clicking here.
The main focus of this term's visit is self-evaluation - How well does a school know itself?
Schools can select which sections/elements of the revised SEF (up to four and including elements from "The Quality of Teaching and the use of Assessment to Support Learning" section) that they wish to talk to the SIP about in more detail for instance, school governance and the leadership and management of teaching and learning.
Headteachers are asked to pre-populate the SEF (Self Evaluation Form) grades, using the matrix supplied, in preparation for the SIP visit and to read the current version of the national school performance descriptors. It is important for a governor to contribute to this meeting.
The SIP will work with the headteacher and governors using the current Ofsted School Self Evaluation Framework. The robustness of self-evaluation will be moderated from the evidence gathered by members of the school community and ultimately lead to the confirmation of a LA school performance grade - as set out in the booklet Support, Challenge and Celebration: Towards Excellence for Norfolk Learners.
