School Fund Account Audits
As per Norfolk's Finance Procedure Manual all School Fund accounts must be audited annually. A copy of the auditor's certificate should be sent to Children's Services, Financial Services, within 90 school days of the end of the accounting year.
School funds can be submitted to Children's Services Financial Services to be audited. The charge for this can be found on page 47 of the Services to School brochure for
Primary Schools, Secondary Schools or Special Schools.
If an external auditor carries out the audit they must be suitably qualified and independent i.e. not a member of the school staff or governing body.
Guidance should be issued to the auditor so they are aware of the specific requirements of auditing the school fund account. This can be found under appendix 24 of the Finance Procedure Manual.
Model examples of a Receipts and Payments Account, Activities Account and Trading Account can be found under appendix 25 of the Finance Procedure Manual.
