Management Information Sheet
Autumn 2011 School and Pupil Census
The DfE requires all schools to complete their 2011 Autumn Census return on Thursday 6th October 2011. Please ensure that your census file reaches the Information and Intelligence Team no later than Friday 7th October 2011. If you have any problems with this deadline please let us know.
Those of you using e1 will need to approve your census return and make the file available to the LA. Schools using other management information (MI) systems will need to create their file and send it via Anycomms or S2S.
Full guidance relating to definitions and the requirements of the census is available on the DfE website - you can access the guidance and FAQs by clicking here. This should be your first point of reference for any queries.
Post 16 Learning Aims (Secondary Schools Only) - The Autumn 2011 Census will collect data on all learning aims being pursued by pupils in Year 12 and above (regardless of age and the level of their learning aims), and for all level 3 or higher learning aims being pursued by Year 11 or below. Data should be returned for all learning aims (as at the first day of term) being pursued in 2011/ 2012 by the main registration school. If your MI system requires you to manually import qualifications data, it is important to regularly download the most up to date QAN codes from the DfE QAN Website (at the very least before each census return) as these are constantly updated. Ensure you do not select QANs that have expired. The website also contains information advising of any errors or changes to the qualifications data. The DfE have also produced a Post 16 Learning Aims quick reference guide which can be downloaded from the DfE website.
