Referrals to Attendance Inprovement Officers
As part of a review of the operation and deployment of Attendance Improvement Officers (AIOs) to take account of the overall reduction in the establishment the referral process has been changed. (See MI Sheet 169)
Attendance Improvement Officer support to schools is expected to be by the use of 'Fast Track' to engage both school and the family to resolve attendance issues. AIO's will endeavour to attend all Fast Track meetings. If a school has too many cases for the allocated time, negotiation between the school and the AIO will occur to prioritise cases.
The referral method for schools to use in this process is by electronic form (the paper form will no longer be accepted) - the form and the process guidance can by found by clicking here
