Referral Process to the Attendance Improvement Officer

The process for referrals to the Attendance Improvement Officers (AIO) will change from 1st September 2011. This change has become necessary to ensure we have a streamlined process into the attendance service across the county.

All referrals must start with a consultation. This consultation will either be held in school, during allocated times, or via a telephone call, if you need to refer a child before the AIO’s next visit.

The consultation with the AIO will agree a way forward. If an agreement that a referral to the Attendance Improvement Officer is the way forward, you will need to complete an electronic referral form which can be found on ‘my school’.

The referral will need to be sent to the Children in Need Team’s Mailbox – addresses below.

The process for this is also mapped out on ‘my school’.

If you wish to have a consultation, regarding an attendance case, with an AIO their details are below.

Short Stay schools and Special schools should contact the office where their school is based.
