Espresso Education Contract Completed and News Update
Introduction
We advised you in MI Sheet 204/11 about the Espresso renewal subject to contract sign which included pricing based on 50% of schools agreeing to the 3 year contract arrangement.
The old arrangements for Espresso ended on 31st August 2011 and the grant funding is no longer available. Espresso kindly agreed to continue providing content until the end of September to allow time to complete the discussions and advise you of the contract costs.
The new contract secures the price schools will pay for the next 3 years .
We are pleased to inform you that a sufficient number of schools have signed up to the new contract with Espresso Education to enable us to complete the contract.
The new contract commenced from 1st September for 3 years.
The pricing is on the basis that schools commit to the contract for 3 years.
Due to commercial sensitivity we will write to those schools which have signed up individually to confirm the final price and with the specific charge based on pupil numbers
This price reflects the price to be paid to Espresso.
The charge will be based on the number of pupils in the January return 2011 from reception to year 6.
There are no on-costs or charges from ICT Shared Services.
At the request of some schools you will have the option to pay annually or pay for 3 years now.
Outstanding credit days with Espresso
Some schools have remaining credit days owed by Espresso from contracts purchased prior to the County funded deal.
The original agreement was that Espresso would honour the days owing at the end of the new Norfolk contract to achieve their lowest pricing model so we knew which schools were committed to continuing.
We have agreed that schools with days owing can use this credit up first.
Credit days are a contractual arrangement between the school and Espresso and separate to the new Norfolk contract.
It is possible for schools to use their credit first and then join the new Norfolk contract at the end of their credit period. Schools would join the Norfolk contract on a pro rata basis so that your new agreement ends at the same time as the Norfolk contract at 31st August 2014.
Alternatively schools can use the credit at the end of the Norfolk contract ie after 31st August 2014.
We will be contacting all those schools who have credit days if they have not already responded to clarify if they wish to join the contract at the end of their credit.
We will confirm the final price
Accessing Espresso in School
There are currently no changes to how schools are to access Espresso in school for those schools which have opted into the contract.
Espresso Education will deactivate accounts for schools that have not bought into the new contract or those without credit during half term week.
We are currently working with Espresso to enable single sign on with your Google email credentials to access the hosted or 'cloud' version of the product. This will then mean you will be able to start accessing your Google email / VLE and Espresso without having to enter your details twice, and is part of a move from local school curriculum applications to hosted software to provide flexible learning, value for money model which is not dependent on local PC's having the software installed.
Teacher and Pupil Access from Home
Teachers previously accessed Espresso via Netmedia from home.
Espresso are planning to contact those schools who have renewed after half term with a letter asking schools to inform Espresso of how they would like to access Espresso at home.
