How To Use Energy Data Online and Save Money and Carbon in Schools

IMPORTANT: Please forward this information to your premises manager or other staff member as appropriate.

The County Council is a mandatory participant in the government’s Carbon Reduction and Energy Efficiency (CRC) Scheme. Children’s Services, which includes schools, is responsible for 73% of the County Council’s carbon emissions, which are legally required to be reported under CRC. To drive down carbon emissions and energy costs Norfolk County Council has set a 25% carbon reduction target for 2014.

We are delighted to announce that we have launched a web-based energy management system ‘eSight’ to enable building occupiers to understand and reduce their energy consumption and help meet our carbon reduction targets. This system includes energy data from the Automated Meter Readers (AMRs) that have been installed in our most energy-hungry buildings.

All schools have been given free access to eSight and authorised asset managers can now access up-to-date information about the energy consumption of schools. Where schools do not have nominated premises managers, responsibility may be designated to an appropriate member of staff.

Some schools, with smaller energy bills or using LPG or oil instead of gas for heating, may not have AMRs. You will still be able to see energy billing information but not the up-to-date AMR energy data. If you do not have an AMR and would like to be considered for one please contact: esightsupport@nps.co.uk

To access the eSight system you will need to follow the link below to the eSight Login page and enter your school name and password, which is provided below. You will also be required the first time you login to change your password to make it secure.

To assist you using the system we have developed a basic user guide for eSight. This will enable you to run simple queries and produce reports for monitoring purposes. The user guide is available here in PDF format.

Thank you for your time reading this information.
