Refresher Training for the Senior Designated Professional: Safeguarding in Education
From April 2012, those experienced Senior Designated Professionals (SDP) who have previously attended the Safeguarding in Education training course and require a two-year update in line with statutory guidance will be able to access a half-day refresher. This course is only available to Senior Designated Professionals (SDP) and Alternates who have attended the Safeguarding in Education Course since April 2010. The course will build upon previous training and include updates on national and local guidance and legislation, the implications of the Ofsted Inspection Framework and best practice in relation to managing child protection. This training should be updated once every two years.
This half day-refresher course can be booked via the CPD website by searching for course reference ENSC6
New SDPs and those who have not attended training since April 2010:
Members of staff who are new to the role of Senior Designated Professional or have not attended the Safeguarding in Education Course since April 2010 will still be required to attend a full day of training. The course will cover the legislative framework, statutory guidance, the roles and responsibilities of the SDP, safer working practice, learning lessons from serious case reviews and best practice in line with the Ofsted Framework for Inspection. The course can be booked via the CPD website by searching for course reference ENSB4 (new dates recently added).
All training has been validated by the Norfolk Safeguarding Children Board.
The cost is:
Full day Training: LA Schools- £160 per delegate (pre-April 2012) and £163 (post-April 2012) External clients- £180 per delegate (pre-April 2012) and £184 (post-April 2012).
Half day Training: LA Schools- £90 per delegate (pre-April 2012) and £92 (post-April 2012) External clients- £100 per delegate (pre-April 2012) and £102 (post-April 2012).
These changes do not effect the requirement for SDPs and Headteachers to undertake multi-agency training once every three years.
In order to comply with statutory guidance it is important that the Senior Designated Professional and the Alternate access all appropriate training within the timescales outlined in statutory guidance.
