Management Information Sheet
Staff Vacancies
The changed approach to staffing adjustments this year includes focused support on redeployment in the hope that the skills and experience of employees can be retained within the wider Norfolk schools environment and so expenditure on redundancy can be reduced.
The new Staffing Adjustment Policy and Procedure, available on Schools People Net, provides the framework for this to happen and we have now identified resource within the Employee Relations team to support employees and schools with the redeployment process. The new policy makes reference to the School Staffing Regulations 2009 which allow the local authority to require that detail of all vacant posts are shared.
This does not mean that schools are restricted in their ability to recruit to any identified vacancies but, through receiving information on vacancies, the Employee Relations team can look to see if these vacancies have the potential to be suitable alternative employment for redundant employees or those seeking redeployment to help avoid redundancy situations from arising.
From this, you are asked to share with the Employee Relations team any vacancy that arises:-
Aimee Barter will be coordinating the redeployment process for school employees. Aimee may contact you if you have a vacancy, to propose that details of potentially suitable redeployees be sent to you to consider as part of your shortlisting process. We hope that you will feel able to give such applications proper consideration within your local recruitment and selection procedure.
Within the scope of the Staffing Adjustment policy, some incentives may be available to support a redeployee into a new post. The extent to which these incentives may be applied will vary depending on the individual circumstances of the case. Also, it may be possible for a trial period to be agreed as part of any redeployment arrangement.

If you do not advertise your posts through the Recruitment team here, however, you are asked to send details of vacant posts as they arise to the Employee Relations mailbox (hrers@norfolk.gov.uk) | |
