HR Consultant Information for Schools - September 2012
School leaders who buy HR services can access Employee Relations HR advice and guidance through a number of sources:
Schools PeopleNet - instant on-line access to detailed HR advice, including model polices and procedures written specifically for schools
HR Direct - additional advice and guidance from trained advisors, available from 0830-1700 every day
Employee Relations support from an HR Consultant on specific cases
Your first point of contact for new issues will always be HR Direct (01603 222212). Where the issue is complex or requires ongoing HR Consultant support, it will be passed to the Employee Relations team. Some information about changes affecting the Employee Relations team is given below.
From September 2012, we have allocated schools in a different way. HR Consultants will now primarily work with schools from one of two groups: high schools and academies, or primary and special schools. The change is designed to support the customer by concentrating expertise on particular types of school and enabling you to receive focussed support.
As a result of this, you may see a change in the HR Consultant allocated to work with your school, and, where this is the case, we have taken steps to ensure effective handover of casework.
Some of you may be aware that Sharon Knight is currently absent due to a planned operation. Sharon is unlikely to be back this term and so her schools have been reallocated on a temporary basis to other members of the team.
Contact details for all HR Consultants are included below. We also have in place arrangements for a daily Duty Consultant, so that you can always access expert employee relations advice on existing cases, even if your HR Consultant is out in other schools or otherwise unavailable. You should be reassured that you can always access HR Consultant advice, even if your allocated HR Consultant works part - time hours.
