Norfolk SEF website

The Norfolk School Self Evaluation site has been updated in line with the September 2012 Ofsted Evaluation Schedule, and Ofsted's guidance on producing a summary self-evaluation for inspection.

The changes are:
  • New sections which match the areas "Inspectors must take account of" in each section of the September 2012 Ofsted Evaluation Schedule. Previously entered text will be mapped into the new sections, but will require revision as the schedule has changed.
  • Additional subsections for a brief summary and reasons why the school is not the grade above or below in line with Ofsted template for a summary self evaluation
  • The ability to download three different versions of the Self Evaluation as Word documents

The intention is that the new site gives the option to use the subsections to guide the process of self-evaluation in line with the Ofsted Evaluation Schedule, and that by summarising this briefly at the end of each section schools will have a sharp, evaluative summary self-evaluation document which is suitable for Ofsted inspection.

    The download options are:
  • A full Self Evaluation which contains all the text entered in each section
  • A summary Self Evaluation (for Ofsted or other external audience) which contains only
  • Contextual Information
  • Achievement summary and reasons why not the grade above / below
  • Teaching summary and reasons why not the grade above / below
  • Leadership and Management summary and reasons why not the grade above / below
  • Behaviour summary and reasons why not the grade above / below
  • Other provision
  • Overall effectiveness summary and reasons why not the grade above / below
  • The last full SEF written to the previous inspection framework

The site is intended to be used alongside Ofsted's Evaluation Schedule, the Subsidiary Guidance and any additional guidance documents which are relevant to the context of the school, which can be found at www.ofsted.gov.uk. The evaluation schedule is in "The school inspection handbook from September 2012", and the guidance on summary self-evaluation is a document within the "Briefings and information for use during inspections of maintained schools and academies" archive.

Schools wishing to purchase advice and support to address priorities arising from school self-evaluation are advised to contact NIEAS on cs.nieastraining@norfolk.gov.uk or telephone 01603 307762 to talk directly with the Business Support Team or an adviser.
