Management Information Sheet
Spring school and pupil census 17 January 2013
The DfE requires all schools to complete their statutory 2013 Spring School Census Return on Thursday 17 January 2013.
Please ensure your file reaches the Information and Intelligence Team by Friday 18 January 2013. If you are unable to meet this deadline please let us know if you have not done so already.
Available guidance
Full information and guidance can be found on the School & Pupil Census pages of the Norfolk Schools website.
Please note there are a number of new data items for 2013 - it is highly recommended you refer to the page 'Preparations for the January 2013 School Census' which lists any changes and common errors.
It is also advisable to do a 'trial run' before census day. Validation errors should be cleared and all queries investigated before sending your census return.
To submit your Census file
Those of you on e1 will need to make your returns available for us to collect; those of you using other MI systems (including SIMS) will need to send your files via Anycomms or s2s. If using Anycomms, you will need to copy the census file on its own straight into the Anycomms outbox before dialing up. Ensure you receive confirmation that the file was sent. The filename should be in the format 926XXXX_SC1_926LL13 (where XXXX is your school DfE number) and should have an xml extension on the end.
Please note that access to the DfE data collection systems (including Key to Success and s2s) changed on 10 December 2012 with access now obtained via the Secure Access single sign on system. A simple registration process requiring a unique PIN from Edubase must be completed in order for schools to gain access to Secure Access and therefore s2s. In any event you will need access to this to send and receive CTF files. If you haven't already registered for Secure Access please see the guidance.
If you encounter any problems with either Edubase or Secure Access please follow the instructions in the Secure Access guidance - unfortunately ICT Shared Services and the Information & Intelligence Team will be unable to help as these are DfE systems.
