Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS)
We are offering the opportunity for your school to develop PATHS from September 2013. PATHS is an early intervention evidence based programme designed for pupils aged 5-11 years to improve:
self control
emotional understanding
positive self esteem
relationship skills
interpersonal problem-solving skills
Results from Norfolk schools found that PATHS made significant positive differences in pupils' aggression and disruptive behaviour, concentration, attention, social and emotional competence.
Funding through the Early Intervention Grant is available for 22 schools to support the implementation of PATHS as whole school approach and includes:
Training session for teaching staff September 3rd or 4th 2013 (full day)
Training session for teaching staff January 6th 2014 (morning)
Training in school for other staff eg MSAs, office staff etc
Information session for parents/carers.
Regular support meetings with PATHS coach
Networking opportunities to share good practice
Support to evaluate impact of PATHS on pupils
