Real Time Information - Important information for employees


From 6th July 2013 Norfolk County Council will start reporting PAYE information to HM Revenues & Customs (HMRC) in Real Time or RTI as it is commonly known.

Currently we report PAYE details at the end of each tax year. From 6th July we will have to send details to HMRC at the time that we pay our employees.

Before we make our first submission we need to ensure that our employee data is correct. In order to do this we need employees to check the data that we currently hold on our HR/Payroll System and notify us where information is incorrect or incomplete.

All current employees will have been issued with a P60 during April, this document includes all of the information that we need verified. We would therefore ask that employees check the following information against their P60:

1. Name

2. Address

4. Date of Birth

5. National Insurance Number

Please note that HMRC have specified that we should provide the individual's full and official forenames. This means that we will have to record employees' official forenames on our system. We are still able to hold employees' preferred name, therefore employees' should notify this at the same time as the change to the official name, if they require this recording.

You will need to provide written evidence verifying a change to your name, date of birth or National Insurance Number.

Please can you ensure that any change to your employee data is notified by no later than 14th June 2013.
