Whether you are senior leader of one or more than one school, this event will open your eyes to the power of thinking BIG within the context of being a small school or partnership of schools working together, formally and informally.

The opportunities and possibilities open to small schools to do things differently and effectively will be explored through presentations and workshops presented by NIEAS advisers and school associates, which include:

  • Ofsted, a year on, with first hand experience from at least one headteacher of a small school recently inspected
  • Creating a sustainable future - whole school organisation, management and finance
  • Highly effective approaches to teaching mixed age classes
  • Play for learning across the year groups
  • Exploring the effective use of digital technology in the classroom
  • A love of learning outdoors and its realising its potential

This NIEAS event has been organised in consultation with school leader representatives, who said that they wanted an opportunity to train and meet together around issues common to small or very small schools. It runs on two days in early September in Norwich and Kings Lynn to give senior leaders an opportunity to attend this event with members of staff.
