Working in partnership with the National Governors' Association (NGA) and Wellcome Trust, FFT have consulted widely with governors and schools during the development of the dashboard to make sure that it provides governors with the information they need to support and challenge schools.
FFT and NGA have also produced training guides for governors and made them available on the FFT website and copies are available here:

Self-Evaluation Booklets
A new Self Evaluation Booklet for primary and secondary schools has been released in FFTLive. These, again, relate to Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4, and are not available for infant schools. The booklet provides school leaders, teachers and governors with the information they need to support school self-evaluation, promote discussion, inform planning and support target setting.
The Self Evaluation Booklet has two sections. The summary section is primarily aimed at senior leaders and governors, and provides a broad overview of school performance. The subject section provides a more detailed view of performance by subject performance at KS2 (Primary) and KS4 (Secondary) and is ideal for a Head of Department, subject coordinator and teachers.
School leaders and teachers are able to use the FFT Self Evaluation Booklet to drive school improvement at all levels. The booklet provides clear information about:
- Summary school performance: summary of main school performance indicators including pupil results, pupil progress (VA and CVA), national ranking and a summary of strengths and weaknesses.
- Background information about the school: comparing school context to national including prior attainment of pupils, FSM, absence, SEN and ethnicity.
- Three Year Significant Areas Grids: one of the most popular FFT reports showing VA and CVA performance over 3 years for key pupil groups and indicators.
- Estimates: estimated school performance for future years including non-contextualised (Type A) and contextualised estimates (Type B & D) which can be used to inform the setting of school level targets for key performance indicators.
FFT have also produced Primary and Secondary training guides for schools to use alongside the Self Evaluation Booklets. These are available on the FFT website and copies are available here:
