Nominations for a Non-Academy Secondary Governor Member on the Norfolk Schools Forum

There is a vacancy for a non-academy secondary school governor member on the Norfolk Schools Forum. The Norfolk Governors’ Network (NGN) is seeking nominations from non-academy secondary phase state school governing bodies to fill this post. Academy secondary governing bodies are not eligible to submit a nomination as there is a separate academy governor member on the Schools Forum.
The term of office for the governor member of the Norfolk Schools Forum is four years from 1 January 2014. The vacancy is for a governor at a non-academy secondary school; if the school converts to an academy the governor member would have to stand down from this post.

Further information, including how to submit a nomination, can be found on the NGN website: www.ngn.org.uk.

Please bring this to the attention of your governing body at the earliest opportunity and we look forward to receiving your governing body’s nomination.

Action Required

Every non-academy secondary governing body is responsible for giving their governors the opportunity to stand. Each governing body can nominate one governor from their governing body. Nominations must be received by Friday 18 October 2013.
If there are more nominations than vacancies an election will be held, details of which will be posted on e-courier on 1 November 2013 and via the NGN website and NGN News. The closing date for voting will be 13 December 2013.

Further Information

The Norfolk Schools Forum is an important statutory body which makes decisions on certain school funding issues and, at times, must be consulted by the Local Authority on other funding decisions. It is vital that governors are fully represented on this influential body.
The Norfolk Schools Forum meets around seven times throughout the year; the meetings are in the Norwich area and may be in the morning or the afternoon. They will usually be held at South Green Park, Mattishall. It must be stressed that governors who take on this role must be available to attend meetings which take place during the working day. If governor members are unable to attend they must contact the clerk of the NGN to arrange for a substitute to attend.

The rules for electing governors to the Norfolk Schools Forum can be found on the NGN website, www.ngn.org.uk - click on ‘Schools Forum’ under ‘Groups We Work With’. These have been reviewed and revised to reflect current constitution and responsibilities of the Schools Forum

If you would like to talk to a governor who is a current member of the Schools Forum please contact Polly (Lucinda Poliakoff), email: lucinda.poliakoff@ngn.org.uk or Mike Grimble, email: mike.grimble@ngn.org.uk

We look forward to receiving your nominations.
