Recruitment of moderators for LA external moderation 2014, EYFS, KS1, KS2

Norfolk has developed a very successful model for moderating teacher assessment of children's achievements at KS2 (for writing), KS1 (mathematics and English) and to support the Profile at the end of EYFS. Our moderation process takes place at central venues across the county and places a strong focus on developing high quality professional dialogue. Our current moderators are highly experienced and trained and the majority have achieved or are working towards accreditation from the Institute of Education or College of Teachers.

For 2014 we have the opportunity to expand our pool of moderators and we would welcome expressions of interest from practitioners in appropriate key stages. If you are interested in joining us you would need to have permission from your school to be released for approximately 3 days training in Norwich during the spring term (varies slightly with key stage) and approximately 4 to 6 days work during the summer term. In the interests of impartiality, these will be at venues as far as possible from your normal place of work; a daily supply rate of £200 and travelling costs will be paid.

We hope that in addition to the LA external moderation events, our expert moderators will also undertake some support for individual, or clusters of schools in developing good practice. To join our expert pool therefore, you would need to undertake a qualifying assessment task during which you would be observed in some school-based moderation activities and also carry out a piece of assessed written work. You will also be encouraged to undertake accreditation to the College of Teachers by working for a certificate in assessment practice.

If you have experience in teaching YR, Y2 or Y6, as appropriate, as well as moderating in your own school and across phases, and have permission from your school, please email julia.idiens@norfolk.gov.uk with a resume of your experience, expertise and particular areas of interest.
