PE and Sports Grant will be paid to eligible schools for the academic year 2013/14 based on pupils aged 5-11 years as recorded on the January 2013 census. There will be two payments made during the academic year:

October 13 - For the period September 13 to March 14, and;

April 14 - For the period April 14 to August 14.

Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils will receive £7,535 plus £5 per eligible pupil. Schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils will receive £475 per eligible pupil.

65% of the total academic year funding will be allocated in the October payment and the remainder will be paid in April 2014.

Academies will receive their funding directly from the EFA.

The grant must be spent by maintained schools on improving the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of pupils registered at that school so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles.

Maintained schools must publish, on their website, information about their use of the PE and Sport Grant allocation by 4 April 2014. Schools should publish the amount of grant received; how it has been spent (or will be spent) and what impact the school has seen on pupils’ PE and sport participation and attainment as a result, to help to ensure that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles.
