Updated Guidance on Management of Radioactive Sources in Secondary Science Health and Safety Code of Practice
The section on managing radioactive sources in the Secondary Science Health and Safety Code of Practice has been rewritten to reflect updated guidance from CLEAPSS.
L93 was reissued earlier this year and although there are no significant changes, the main area requiring action by School Radiation Protection Supervisors/Heads of Science is on disposal of some types of very old radioactive sources that are considered to be beyond their working life and for which a risk assessment is no longer adequate for use in schools.
Heads of Science and their staff must ensure that they are familiar with and working to this Code of Practice.
