Future Leaders' Programme

In collaboration with its partners Norfolk LA is committed to expanding the capacity and quality of leadership locally; but it is also keen to signpost and broker opportunities for Norfolk schools to benefit from nationally recognised programmes and expertise.

The Future Leaders Trust is a UK charitable organisation with the mission of addressing educational disadvantage. It recruits and trains aspiring school leaders who focus on raising the achievement and attainment of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. It aims to change a system that allows children from deprived backgrounds to be educationally marginalised.

Its highly successful ‘flagship’ Future Leaders programme has been running since 2006. It is funded by the National College and is open to those who are two to five years from headship. Today, there is a growing network of over 400 Future Leaders working in challenging schools throughout England and for the first time the Trust is looking to develop a Network in the East of England for their 2014 cohort.

The Trust will be looking for 75 secondary and 50 primary leaders to work as Future Leaders in schools in challenging circumstances across the country. Schools can support existing members of staff to join the programme, or can welcome new leaders to their SLTs for the residency (first) year of the programme.

The Trust is currently getting in touch with eligible schools in the East of England to let them know how they can get involved. Norfolk schools can expect to be contacted. However, you can nominate colleagues for the Future Leaders programme now. You can also opt to be a residency school for a member of the new cohort of Future Leaders or recruit a new leader from a network of over 400 committed senior leaders.

Applications are currently open until late February 2014 and if interested, you are encouraged to start the process as soon as possible.
