Religious Visitors in Schools
Visits from members of Faith Communities can significantly enhance Pupils’ opportunity to learn both about and from religion. As such, they are a valuable resource in religious education. There are two principles of such visits, however, that should always be remembered:
- The school is responsible for teaching and learning in RE.
- Teaching about RE must always be in line with the Agreed Syllabus; guidance about teaching the Agreed Syllabus can be found in the Professional Papers.
More detailed information about Religious Believers visiting schools can be found in the Guidance and Code of Conduct produced by NATRE (National Association of Teachers of RE) www.natre.org.uk.
