Prevention Service (YISP) for young people aged 8 - 16 years at risk of involvement in anti-social or offending behaviour in schools

YISP is the early intervention activity within Norfolk Youth Offending Team [NYOT] with the specific aim of preventing anti-social behaviour in the community. By assessing the needs of both the young people and their families, YISP seeks to reduce the risk factors associated with the onset of offending and anti social behaviour in young people aged between 8 and 16 years. YISP accesses young people in their homes, school and the community and offers an intervention appropriate to the risk and protective factors identified.

The main aim is to prevent young people committing offences and being involved in anti-social behaviour. Workers challenge the young person’s behaviour, encouraging them to acknowledge the impact it has on others and to take responsibility for their actions. Practitioners also work with parents to increase their skills in parenting – through supporting their child, including by setting and sticking to boundaries and engaging in positive activities with their children.

Should you have any children in your school that you would like to refer to YISP please contact in the first instance: Central - 01603 679100, East - 01493 448120, West - 01553 614950.
