Management Information Sheet
Transfer of pupil data between schools end of 2013/14
"If a child moves to another school in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland then the child’s common transfer file and educational record must be passed to the new school as set out in the Education (Pupil Information) (England) Regulations 2005 (SI2005/1437). Information must be transferred within 15 school days."
Assessment and Reporting Arrangements 2014
The effective management of the transition of pupils from one school to another is a key responsibility both of schools and of the Local Authority. A consistent county-wide approach to the transfer of data and information is especially important for schools which draw their intake from a large number of schools, and for those which send pupils to several different schools.
Click here for the updated Local Authority procedures on pupil transfers. These notes will ensure that schools meet the statutory requirements for transferring data and information about pupils to receiving schools, and will help towards continuity of curriculum experience for pupils transferring between different phases of school.
(Please note; every reference to "schools" in this MI Sheet also applies to academies.)
