Chelsea's Choice; Free Drama Production on Child Sexual Exploitation: for all Norfolk Secondary Schools

“Chelsea’s Choice” Drama Production on Child Sexual Exploitation: FREE FOR ALL NORFOLK SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Schools are well placed to prevent, identify and respond to children at risk of sexual exploitation. Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is an identified priority for schools and you will be aware featured prominently in the recently published DfE guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’.

As part of the continued programme of awareness about Child Sexual Exploitation, Norfolk Safeguarding Children Board are funding the full cost of Chelsea’s Choice an interactive drama presentation to be delivered in every Norfolk High School to Year 9 pupils during the Autumn Term 2014. The play is aimed at raising awareness amongst young people about CSE and tells the story of a group of three students who discover the diary of a girl called Chelsea. Further information about the production is provided with this MI Sheet.

There will also be 3 free pre-tour performances for up to 2 staff members from each Norfolk High School or Academy. This will give staff the opportunity to see the performance content prior to it going ‘live’ around the schools. It will also give those staff the opportunity to consider resources to support any follow-on work that the school might wish to undertake. The pre-tour performances are on Friday 11 July, as follows:

  • 9.30am-11.30am – Green Britain Centre, Swaffham, PE37 7HP
  • 1.30pm-3.30pm – Sprowston High School, Norwich, NR7 8NE
  • 4.30pm-6.30pm – Sprowston High School, Norwich, NR7 8NE

To book a place on one of the above sessions, please contact the NSCB by Friday 13 June: you will then be provided with a booking sheet to secure a time for the play to be performed in your school in the Autumn Term.
