Sickness Insurance Claims - Industrial Action

When registering claims for sickness insurance for July 2014, claims should not be submitted for any staff members who have stated that they are taking part in the industrial action scheduled for Thursday 10th July 2014. As per the guidance given on the Norfolk Schools Website schools will be required to submit a list of employees taking part in the industrial action to HR Shared Services. If a staff member appears on this list they must not be included on any Sickness Insurance claim for 10th July 2014. Any sickness claim required for these staff members should be end dated on the 09th July 2014, and a new second claim entered beginning on the 11th July 2014.

Please Note: If a staff member has a period of sickness that starts prior to the industrial action and ends after the industrial action a sickness insurance claim can be submitted for the entire sickness period. However, if that staff member states that they are actively taking part in the industrial this is deemed to be a break a in the sickness period and, therefore, the sickness period will need to be end dated on the 09th July 2014 and a second claim entered starting on the 11th July 2014 for the remaining sickness period.

Claims can still be registered for the 10th July 2014 if a staff member is absent due to sickness, not industrial action.

A random sample of claims registered for the 10th July 2014 will be checked to ensure claims are not submitted for staff taking part in the industrial action.
