Make Your Mark

We are asking all schools in Norfolk to encourage their students to take part in the Make Your Mark vote.

Make Your Mark is a ballot comprised of 10 issues that affect young people. Young people are able to vote until the 8th October, choosing the issue that is most important to them. The 5 issues that receive the most votes will be debated by Members of the UK Youth Parliament (MYPs) in the House of Commons with the top issue becoming the UK Youth Parliament's campaign for next year.

Why is it important young people are able to have their say in the Make Your Mark ballot?

  • Young people have opportunity to think about and debate these issues and have an active role in politics
  • The ballot ensures young people's views are heard and action can be taken
  • Norfolk young people get the chance to have a say on a national debate
  • The results help us to identify the biggest issues facing young people in Norfolk so we can act on them

We want to make this a really simple voting process and would like your help to deliver as many votes as possible. We've developed an easy 3 step process for collecting votes during form time. This will take no more than 10 minutes of the form teacher's time.

Step 1. Voting information (attached) including brief instructions and a tally sheet to record results to be put into form registers for teachers to use during form time

Step 2. Form teachers read the instruction in the register, take the students through the 10 issues and take a hand count to record the number of students supporting each issue – remember young people can only vote for one issue.

Step 3. Secretaries to collect all tally sheets from returned registers and post them to us in the enclosed pre-paid envelope by Tuesday 7 October.

Please feel free to contact Ben Dunne on 01603 495102 with any questions.

Thank you so much for your help
