S2S support (www.s2ssupport.co.uk) is an outreach service provided by the Norfolk Complex Needs Schools. The service was setup to give mainstream schools support and advice with the following aims:

• To offer relevant and practical support
• To empower all stakeholders
• To develop effective, sustainable practice

Some facts about the service to date (2.5years of service)

• 542 Individual referrals and 62 whole school referrals
• 97.34% of schools felt that the service provided a good response time
• 96% of schools believe that S2S has helped deal with the referral
• 98.67% of schools would use the service again
• The Local Authority supports this outreach service

Up until now, S2S Support has been funded by the Local Authority using money that had been available to them. As a result of recent changes to school funding, the money used to fund this service is now delegated directly to schools. Neither the Schools Forum nor the LA have any future leeway in terms of top-slicing to fund this service.

Everyone involved with S2S Support believes this is a valuable service to mainstream schools and an exciting opportunity now exists to develop and implement a new traded service.

S2S Support currently has enough funding to ensure the service continues until the end March 2016. From the 1st April 2016, and assuming demand remains high for the service, S2S Support will become a traded service that Schools and/or Clusters will be able to purchase. The service will come under the remit of Trust Norfolk-SEN (www.trustnorfolk-sen.co.uk).

We are currently asking all mainstream schools to help inform us about the future service you want us to offer. We are keen to hear about your thoughts with regards to the current service, future improvements and how you might wish to pay for the service.
