Developing Norfolk's Future Workforce

As part of our work to support schools in developing Norfolk’s future workforce, Norfolk’s Employment and Skills team has developed a new resource for use in schools, colleges and other providers.

Developing Norfolk’s Future Workforce initiative aims to support schools to bring work related education into their curriculum, understand the opportunities in the local economy and support pathways into those careers.

There are a number of activities taking place under the banner; the latest addition to this toolkit of information, advice and guidance is our recently launched series of 24 short ‘You Tube Channel’ style videos www.youtube.com/user/NorfolkEmployability

This is a resource for teachers, careers professionals and young people alike to help inform young people about the opportunities in their future study, qualifications, getting experience and securing future careers.

Three explainer videos are available for teachers and staff; www.youtube.com/playlist

Introducing young people to the six core videos (The Changing World Of Work, What Employers Look For, How To Prepare For The Job I Want, How To Prepare For Future Study, Apprenticeships & Entrepreneurship) gives them an introduction to the world of work and helps them to decide on their own situation. From there, young people can follow an interactive pathway using the YouTube annotation system that unlocks information that is relevant to them, their aspirations and their situation.

Each video (available via You Tube and the Teachers and Advisers area on Help You Choose) provides advice and helpful information from a range of business people and is designed to engage and excite audiences to promote discussion and prompt research.
