In April last year, the Department for Education (DfE) released new statutory guidance on supporting students with medical conditions in schools which is reflected in our managing Medicines Policy available on the Norfolk Schools website.

I am writing to advise you that the DfE has more recently been involved with the NHS to provide defibrillators for school settings at a competitive price and details of the scheme can be found on the DfE website.

I would also like to draw your attention to the First Aid section on Schools Peoplenet which provides guidance on the things to consider when thinking about purchasing defibrillators. Schools are strongly advised to adopt a risk based approach in deciding how and when to use such equipment.
