Future of S2S Support Consultation

S2S support (www.s2ssupport.co.uk) is an outreach service provided by the Norfolk Complex Needs Schools. The service was setup to give mainstream schools support and advice.

A consultation was held in order to measure future demand for the service and to explore future funding models once Local Authority financial support ends.

The overwhelming feedback from the consultation was positive and that 100% of schools wished the service to continue.

Schools value the service greatly and identified it’s strengths as:

  • Value for Money
  • Confidence and expertise of the S2S link person
  • Timely response to referral
  • Effective levels of support
  • Good outcomes for pupils

The responses from schools indicating how much they would be prepared to pay for support as a traded service were well below the levels required to provide a high quality and sustainable service. In further consultation with the LA they will be provide up to 3 years of transition funding to ensure the service remains viable while working towards a truly self-funded service.

Referrals will open after Easter and schools can access these in the usual manner through www.s2ssupport.co.uk

During the summer term S2S will become the responsibility of Trust Norfolk-SEN and the trust will begin work on developing the traded service ready for the Services for Schools service in Autumn 2015
