Asbestos awareness e-learning now available

A general asbestos awareness e-learning course is now available through Schools' PeopleNet. It is useful for anyone who might work in a building containing, or which has contained asbestos. Please note though, it will not enable somebody to work on asbestos containing materials and it is not a substitute for premises managers attending the NCC Asbestos Premises Management training, which can be booked through HRDirect on 222212.

The aims of the course are to help participants:

  • Understand what asbestos is and where it might be found.
  • Find out about the different types of asbestos.
  • Understand the health risks and how to avoid them.
  • Find out about Council and emergency procedures.

As it is important for all staff to have a basic level of asbestos awareness, you should ensure they are made aware of this training and are encouraged to complete it.
