Free Booktime book packs for all Reception children

Booktime - book-gifting programme for reception children from the BookTrust

Norfolk is again participating in this gifting programme - all infant and primary schools will receive an allocation of Booktime packs between October and December for distribution to children in Reception classes. (Booktime have been provided with forecast admission information from Norfolk County Council Schools Admissions service.)

The book in the pack for 2015 is Open very carefully by Nicola O'Byrne.

For 2015 Norfolk Library and Information Service is working with 8 schools in a pilot project to gift the packs to reception children during a class visit to their local library. The schools involved are: Costessey Infants, Stradbroke Primary, Aslacton Primary, Manor Field Infants, Mile Cross Primary, Arden Grove Infants, Lakenham Primary and Tuckswood Primary.

For other schools the packs will be delivered direct to you between October and December. The pack provides the ideal opportunity to encourage reception age children and their families to find out more about the great range of services from the library. Some libraries may be able to host reception class visits - to find out more about visits to the library and to include library information and joining forms in your gifting programme, please contact your local library www.norfolk.gov.uk/libraries

The School Library Service (SLS) is also supporting the gifting programme, with story sessions in schools. Please call the SLS team on 01603 222265 or get in touch with them by email school.library.service@norfolk.gov.uk to see what they can offer to complement the initiative. There is a charge for sessions run by the SLS team.

School Frequently Asked Questions are available on the Booktime website along with further information about the packs, the delivery, activity ideas and tips for making the most of Booktime and a contact form for asking about pack numbers and delivery.

We hope you enjoy Booktime gifting in your school.
