Medical Needs Co-ordinator
A new Medical Needs Co-ordinator is now in post his name is Sam Bartram and he is fully operational in the role. Sam can be contacted on 01603 223609 or e-mail sam.bartram@norfolk.gov.uk
Sam is responsible for ensuring that Norfolk County Council fulfils its statutory duties in relation to medical needs provision for children and young people who cannot attend school for medical reasons and therefore require alternative educational provision to be put in place.
Sam will work in liaison with schools and professionals. Parents/carers can also contact Sam to discuss their child's specific medical needs. This may be particularly appropriate when parents feel that their child's medical needs are not being addressed.
As a Local Authority a revised policy has been drafted which is attached. If you have any comments or suggestions please send them through to Sam.
The draft will also be shared with a parent group so that their comments can be gained and we can ensure that we have input from parents/carers and education professionals prior to finalising this policy.
